IAAHEH International Assessor Training By GMC, United Kingdom
Along with the times, the quality of education in the global world is also expanding. Based on data published by the World Population Review, in 2021 Indonesia was still ranked 54th out of a total of 78 countries in the world education level ranking.
In order to improve the quality of Health Education, IAAHEH as an accreditation agency for health study programs in Indonesia is starting to take steps toward the international level. Referring to the vision of the IAAHEH to create a global-level accreditation institution and IAAHEH having been recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), as well as requests for accreditation from Institutions or Faculties of Medicine Abroad to be accredited by IAAHEH, then preparation for international accreditation is required. One of the preparations is to train assessors to have international standard assessor competence. This training is in collaboration with the General Medical Council Services International (GMCSI), United Kingdom.
This international assessor training was held on August 8-11, 2022, in Jakarta by a team of professional trainers from the UK, namely the General Medical Council Services International (GMCSI). GMCSI is an institution that provides knowledge and expertise regarding medical training to regulatory frameworks. The trainers for this training activity were Helen Featherstone, James Field, and Robin Benstead. This training activity was attended by 24 domestic assessor participants and 4 foreign participants, namely 2 people from Malaysia and 2 people from Thailand.
We hoped that this training activity will produce competent and international standard assessors to carry out international accreditation, in accordance with one of the visions of IAAHEH to be able to step onto the international stage.
